When I left for college I was unsure how it would effect my relationships with my parents and older siblings. I had experienced a lot of distance from my brothers when they went to college and noticed the distance that grew between them and my parents as well. I wondered if my college experience would effect my relationship with my parents in the same way. After being at Calvin for almost a year, I have noticed that I have a much more intentional relationship with my parents as well as my brothers than ever before. I succeeded in staying close and up to date with my family throughout my time at college so far and I am hopeful that our close relationships will continue for the rest of my time at Calvin.
Freshman Year at Calvin
I have grown a lot in the last year and learned much more about myself than ever before. Starting my Freshman year at Calvin, I was excited as well as nervous to see where God was going to take me. I was unprepared for what the first month of college brought me. The first month I felt very lonely and struggled to find my place; however as time went on I began to develop beautiful friendships that have shaped me in ways I never knew possible. As I approach the end of my Freshman, I look back at the ways I have grown throughout such a short amount of time and am so thankful for where I am at now.
Cub’s Slow Start to the 2019 Season
The Cubs started off the 2019 baseball season with a losing series of 1-2 against the Texas Rangers, a series the Cubs were projected to sweep. The pitching in the first two weeks of play was detrimental to the team. However, the players were and still are hitting well. After struggling with the pitching staff, the Cubs decided to put Happ back in the minor league and try and work out some kinks with Darvish. The outlook is brightening; the Cubs swept their most recent series against the Marlins and advance their record to 8-10.
